Shannon Depararro Atkins, A 46-year-old male living in West Palm Beach Florida, was arrested for threatening the life of President Trump. On January 19th, Shannon posted the threatening messages onto Facebook after being banned from X for posting similar threats.
He posted unwise death threats like, “Lincoln, JKF, Reagan, Martin Luthor King, and Trump – unfortunately, one is still alive”; “Bullets, please. Jesus, save America”; and lastly, “I’ve been banned from X because I said ‘I hope and pray someone kills him. We haven’t had an assassination in years.’”
The FBI began to get reports of his threats on January 21st and began a formal investigation and found a probable cause to arrest him. Shannon Atkins is being charged with Federal intimidation, Drug possession and smuggling into a county detention center, according to the jail records.
Since the beginning of Trump’s campaign for presidency, many left-leaning Democrats, politician and civilian, have been making threats towards Trump and calling for his death. In July, the threats surged after a failed assassination attempt on Trump’s life, which sparked a bunch of angry leftists to threaten Trump violently and shamelessly. While they may or may not be aware of this, but it is a federal crime to threaten the President.
The federal law which states this is 18 U.S.C. S 871. This law also covers the Vice President, President elect, presidential candidates, and former presidents. This section of the law says it is a felony to threaten to kill, kidnap, or inflict serious bodily harm on the occupations listed above and can result in a fine, imprisonment, or both.
With this man’s arrest, let’s hope this will mark the end of every threat made on social media towards our President and will pave the way to clean the gutter trash from all of social media.
